Rick Ross Arrested for Alleged Domestic Violence

Rick Ross was arrested in Miami Beach on domestic violence charges, including felony battery by strangulation. The rapper was released on a $5,000 bond, has pleaded not guilty and denies the allegations.

According to NBC6, Ross was released later Thursday after posting a $5,000 bond. He has pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations.

WHAT POLICE SAY HAPPENED

According to CBS12’s reporting on the arrest affidavit, a woman contacted Miami Beach police on September 29 to report an alleged assault that she said happened August 28. She told investigators that she and Ross had been in a relationship for approximately a year and were living together.

The woman alleged that Ross woke her after becoming angry about an Instagram photograph in which she had been tagged. She told police he questioned her before slapping her in the face.

The affidavit describes further allegations that Ross repeatedly struck her chest and grabbed and twisted the collar of her hoodie, making it difficult for her to breathe. She also accused him of grabbing her ponytail, slamming her against a wall and striking her face, injuring her lip.

The woman said she gathered her belongings and left the residence. CBS12 reported that Ross voluntarily surrendered to Miami Beach police on Thursday.

These accounts describe allegations made to investigators, not findings of guilt. The Black Angle has not independently verified the alleged assault.

ROSS DENIES WRONGDOING

Attorney Steve Sadow disputed the accusations in a statement reported by XXL. He said Ross was being wrongfully accused and questioned the former girlfriend’s motivations, pointing to the interval between the alleged incident and the police report.

Sadow also said Ross had pleaded not guilty and asked the public to withhold judgment while the judicial process unfolds. The attorney’s statements represent the defense’s position.

After leaving jail, Ross spoke to reporters.

“I am totally innocent of these fabricated allegations made against me,” he said, according to NBC6.

WHAT HAPPENED IN COURT?

Ross appeared in court Thursday with attorney Bradley Horenstein. WSVN reported that Horenstein requested an expedited release, referring to his client’s celebrity status.

Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer responded that Ross would receive fair treatment like anyone else appearing before her.

NBC6 subsequently reported that Glazer set his bond at $5,000 and that Ross posted it before leaving jail.

JAZZMA KENDRICK’S PUBLIC ALLEGATIONS

The arrest followed public accusations from model and content creator Jazzma Kendrick, a former girlfriend of Ross.

PEOPLE reported that Kendrick shared Instagram Stories on September 26 accusing Ross of physical abuse. She posted photographs of an alleged lip injury and said the incident was connected to her decision to leave the relationship.

Kendrick also urged women experiencing abuse to protect themselves. Her posts describe her account; their circulation online does not independently establish the circumstances of an injury.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

According to NBC6, Ross’s arraignment is scheduled for October 22. His release on bond does not resolve the charges.

Ross denies wrongdoing. An arrest is not a conviction, and the allegations remain subject to the legal process.
