HOW WE WORK

Evidence. Context.
Accountability.

The Black Angle is an independent, progressive, pro-Black publication founded by Sean JonPaul Foster. These standards govern our news desk and creator coverage. Updated October 18, 2026.

What readers should get from a story

An article should answer a useful question or add a distinct perspective. Repeating a headline, rewriting another outlet’s paragraphs or surrounding a video with generic text is not enough. Where the evidence supports it, we add a timeline, relevant background, a response, a comparison or an explanation of why the development matters to Black audiences.

We do not pad a short development to reach a word count. When a story has too little verified substance for a standalone report, our publishing standard is to wait, combine it with related context, or link to the original source. Article length and an embedded video do not by themselves establish quality.

Sources and uncertainty

We seek the original statement, interview, announcement, record or reporting behind a claim and compare it with reliable independent coverage. Several sites repeating the same report are one chain of attribution, not independent confirmation. Sources & further reading links show readers where material claims came from.

We distinguish allegations, denials, court findings, predictions and established facts. We do not invent quotations, interviews, private motives or firsthand experiences. Where a source is inaccessible or a central claim remains unconfirmed, that limitation should be visible. An early report may need updating as evidence develops.

News, commentary and creator experience

Article labels tell readers whether they are reading news, analysis, commentary or an essay. Rankings and recommendations are editorial selections. Forecasts about future trends are opinions, not measured outcomes. Creator experience is attributed to the person who supplied it; software-generated copy does not create firsthand knowledge.

The publication’s Black perspective informs which questions we ask. It does not excuse inaccurate claims about any person or community. Relevant responses belong alongside criticism, and corrections should address the substance rather than quietly changing the subject.

AI assistance and visual evidence

Our news desk uses AI-assisted research and writing, including an owner-directed automated publishing workflow. AI-assisted news carries a disclosure. Automation can make mistakes; sources, factual checks and owner corrections remain necessary. We do not claim that every automated post has received individual human review before publication.

Illustrations must be labeled and relevant. File photographs must not imply they show a different event. Image credits document the source and reuse terms where applicable. A realistic generated image or simulated celebrity performance is not evidence that the depicted event or performance happened.

Videos add evidence and context

We look for a relevant video when preparing each new article, favoring an original creator, official channel, full interview or reliable reporting. The first selected video appears near the top. Captions should explain who published it, what it shows and any important limitation, such as archival footage, fictional content or an unofficial fan project.

We do not attach an unrelated clip simply to attract clicks. If no suitable video can be verified, the article may be published without one. External videos can become unavailable or require viewing on the source platform. The written article should remain useful on its own.

Corrections and updates

Flag a factual problem in the discussion below the affected article, starting with “Correction,” and provide the exact claim and a supporting source. This is a public channel; do not post private information. A report initiates a request for review and does not guarantee a response time.

Substantive factual corrections should carry a visible correction note. Updates should retain the original publication date and show when the story changed. The owner can edit or remove coverage through the Creator Desk. A removal must not be reversed by republishing the same event under another address.

Commercial interests

Advertising and affiliate links are labeled. We identify founder-owned books, films and merchandise as our own projects. Payment or a commercial relationship must not be presented as independent praise. Read the recommendations and affiliate disclosures for details and our advertising and privacy information.
