ROOTED IN A LEGACY

A guide to belonging.

Victor H. Green’s travel guides helped Black travelers find welcoming lodging, restaurants and services during segregation. First published in 1936, the Green Book became a vital resource for navigating racist exclusion.

This independent directory honors that legacy by helping people discover and support Black-owned businesses today.

BUILT WITH CARE

Verified, then added.

We include a business only when an owner’s statement or a credible source explicitly identifies Black ownership. We also check its public address, phone and website. Each location’s sources are available in its listing.

This is a growing directory, not a complete census or a guarantee of anyone’s experience. Hours, locations and ownership can change; call or check the business website before traveling.

Map boundaries: U.S. Census Bureau via U.S. Atlas. Street maps: OpenStreetMap contributors. Pins use checked address locations; entrances may vary.
